Pulpo a la gallega – Octopus is one of the most emblematic dishes of Galician gastronomy. It is cooked in a pot with water and salt, and served sliced with olive oil, coarse salt and paprika.

Galician Empanada – The empanada is a kind of pie filled with different ingredients, such as meat, fish, seafood or vegetables. The most famous Galician empanada is the one with scallops, but you can also find octopus, cod, cockles, etc.

Lacón con grelos – The lacón is a cured pork ham, which is cooked with grelos (a vegetable similar to kale) and potatoes. It is a typical winter dish and is usually served hot.

 

 

Caldo gallego – Caldo gallego is a thick soup prepared with different types of meat (bacon, chorizo, ham, etc.), legumes and vegetables, such as cabbage, potatoes and turnip greens. It is a very comforting dish and is usually served hot on cold days.

Tarta de Santiago – The Tarta de Santiago is a typical dessert of Galician gastronomy. It is made with ground almonds, sugar, eggs and lemon zest. It is a simple but delicious dessert, served sprinkled with powdered sugar.
