Barcelona Experiences
How many days in Barcelona is enough?
Barcelona is one the world’s favourite tourist destinations, at any time of year. But one of the most difficult questions to answer is:
How many days are the right amount of days in the city?
The answer depends of a lot of factors, including the amount of time you have available, the quantity of things to see, or if Barcelona is a destination in itself or just a stopover on your next trip. A Barcelona tour is always a good choice.
In this article, we’ll tell you what the best option is.
A week in Barcelona
In any trip, the best thing possible is to be able to spend the maximum number of days in your destination.
Furthermore, if you are coming from a faraway country like the USA, Russia, Japan or Australia (to give a few examples), the recommended time is a week.
Above all, if it is your first time on the European continent, you would have time to see everything in the city centre and many places near to the city, including Montserrat, Sitges and the Costa Brava.
What to see in Barcelona in a week
One of the advantages of visiting a place for an entire week is that it you don’t have to go running from place to place to do everything in time.
You can organise your time as you want, and take a day to go shopping or simply stroll calmly around the city.
Barcelona City Centre: first contact
On your first day we recommend that you spend your time in the centre of the city.
You’ll get to know Barcelona’s culture bit by bit and see some of the city’s most famous locations: Les Rambles, Plaza Cataluña and the Gothic Quarter.
Gaudi: Something you can’t miss in Barcelona
If you have time to give another day to the works of Gaudí (there is a lot to see!), you have the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, the Casa Batlló or the Pedrera, which are some of the most famous and unmissable destinations.
Amongst these, the Sagrada Familia is the most famous building in the city, with a unique history, art and beauty easily observed by any who visits.
You can even take full advantage of your trip and see everything from a great height, in a helicopter that puts the entire area into perspective and gives you a birds-eye view of the mighty Sagrada Familia.
Fall in love with Barcelona’s skyline
One of the most beautiful things about Barcelona are the viewpoints from which you can see the entire city from an incredible vantage point.
Some examples are the bunkers of Carmel, or on Tibidabo mountain, where you’ll find one of the world’s oldest theme parks.
There is no better way to enjoy the sunset them in viewing the Barcelona skyline.
The beach on sunny days
And of course, if you’re coming to Barcelona in summer you’ll need a day or two to spend on the beach.
One of the advantages that make Barcelona an ideal destination is that you can reach the sea in less than half an hour in public transport.
If what you’re after is a mojito by the beach, you can look at our blog post in which we talk about the best 5 beaches in Barcelona to make sure you find the best place to visit.
Near Barcelona: Costa Brava and more
Once you have seen all the unmissable things in Barcelona, you can find new places very close to the city.
Beach or mountain? In less than an hour by car you can find places in both the mountains and the city which will give you the chance to do whatever you want.
Our top recommendations are to visit Montserrat and see the incredible beaches of the Costa Brava.
Both places can be part of an unforgettable trip in which you’ll see a lot of places outside of the city without even venturing too far away.
And if finally all that you want to do is to have a weekend break in Barcelona, don’t worry, in this blog post we have made a small guide to see the city in two days.
